I'm still alive!

I survived my move! It began as kind of a nightmare - I had reserved a sixteen-foot moving truck (through Budget, because I had a discount coupon) with the capability to tow my car behind it. I reserved the truck in May. Last Thursday, I was supposed to pick up the truck at 10 A.M. At 9:30, I received a call from the rental place.

Him: Can you delay your move at all?

Me: ...NO, I am moving tomorrow.

Him: Okay... we don't have a truck for you.

I then proceeded to yell, very loudly, on the phone to him, explaining that I had reserved a truck three months ago and that I needed a truck, and that I was supposed to drive 800 miles the next day and there was absolutely NO WAY I was going to accept not having a truck. And I never yell at people (except my family... we've all been there) in person or on the phone, because I have this very intense fear of confrontation which probably will not help my training to do therapy.

So this man ended up bumping someone else so that I could have the last truck he had, which was only 12 feet long and did not have towing capabilities. I felt terrible about someone else not being able to make their move when they were supposed to, but since this guy obviously did the same thing to me, and there was no possibility of delaying my move, I had to do it. (And he didn't even give me a discount on the stupid truck. I will NEVER do business with Budget again.)

So we had to drive this truck plus two cars. All the way from Wisconsin to Alabama. My parents drove the moving truck, I drove my car, and my boyfriend drove my parents' car. Let me tell ya, driving twelve hours by yourself (well, with a veeeeery meow-y cat) is no walk in the park. We left at about 1 PM last Friday, stayed overnight in Kentucky, and got to my new aparment at about noon last Saturday.

I've never been so relieved to be done driving!

So anyway, I have lots of things planned to show you guys over the next month or so, but for now, here are some pictures of my apartment! I really like how it's turned out so far.

Here's my living room:

As you can tell, I'm a Packers fan. :) GO PACK GO! And yes there is my favorite project, the beautiful yellow coffee table that I re-did a while ago.

This buffet table (which hopefully, eventually, I will be able to refinish... it's just begging for it) I found in my parents' basement and it is PERFECT for extra storage, since this apartment has almost none. It makes my TV look so itty bitty though!

I also took inspiration from Pinterest and created a crate bookshelf! It happily houses all my TV show seasons. The lamp my mom found while thrifting, and at first I kind of thought it was ugly but I've grown to really love it. Thanks mom!

My kitchen:

On the wall to the right, above, I printed out a weekly calender printable that I found on Pinterest and put it in a cheap frame from Target... with dry-erase markers I'm hoping it can serve as reminders for important things as well as a little meal planner!

It's pretty small but has nice cabinets and all matching appliances! Then to the right is my laundry closet which I also love having. This is the first time since I moved out of my parents' house that I've been able to do laundry without leaving the apartment!

This super cool table is in my bathroom:

This is another find from my parents' basement! I tell you, I've found the best stuff in there.

No pictures from my bedroom cause it's still pretty messy. I haven't found a good place to put my clothes until I find a dresser, eventually.

So far, I love living in Alabama! Although damn is it HOT here! It never gets cool! I guess it will pay off in winter when there isn't a foot of snow... but maybe I'd be willing to make that trade :)
